*REVIEW* Freshman Forty By Christine Duval

February 20, 2013
When eighteen-year-old Laurel Harris discovers she’s pregnant four weeks into the start of her freshman year at prestigious Colman College, she has all intentions of telling her emotionally-distant father. But being away at school makes it too easy to hide. And while she can’t explain to her friends, or to herself even, the reasons why she doesn’t want the baby’s father to find out about the pregnancy, the rest of her world begins to unravel.

Freshman year is hard enough. Most girls get through by forming close friendships, finding new boys and a phone call from mom or dad on Sunday. Laurel has to navigate all of it while hiding an unplanned pregnancy from a summer fling....

An imperfect heroine plagued by bad choices and haunted by the memory of her deceased mother and grandparents, readers are sure to identify with Laurel as she confronts teen pregnancy, in secret, in a remote college setting.----------
REVIEW
 4.5 STARS

Freshman Forty is the story of Laurel Harris who finds out she is pregnant at the beginning of her freshman year at college. She hides it from friends and family.I found that I really enjoyed this story.I did find the Heroine making bad choices and the fact that she hid it from people was not a good choice. However She had her reasons.I ended up really liking Laurel and the friends she made.Laurels father was not a good father so I can see why she chose not to tell him.I think it is a bit unbelievable though to have to hide a pregnancy in college nowadays as people do go to college when pregnant.Laurel just had issue up issue when it came up to telling her dad and the father of her baby.Between weddings, babies and accidentally deleted messages Laurel didn't stand a chance.I loved that the writing flowed so smoothly and What a great Debut Novel By Christine Duval
What Kept Freshman Forty from being a 5 star book was in my opinion the book ended somewhat abruptly.Knowing the Author has plans to make a sequel helps me feel better about the ending..but it nevertheless just ended rather soon for such a emotionally paced book.I would definitely recommend this to friends and I look forward to reading the sequel when that comes out.
