*Spotlight* One For Kami By Charlene A. Wilson

Blurb:

Kami is faced with a heartbreaking truth; instead of being a member of the poor lower class who are allowed only one spouse, she finds  the love of her life is an elite and bound by law to wed three wives to do his part to eliminate the poverty-stricken condition of their world. How can she stand to share him? Why can’t he be poor the way she thought he was when she fell in love with him?

Desperate and determined to find a realm that doesn’t have such dictates, she travels to dimension Three-Two-Three to begin her search.  But is love truer in a place that only allows one spouse than it is in Ian’s heart?

Excerpt:

A smile bloomed on Kami’s lips and then dropped as she realized her thoughts.  She hammered the mattress with her palms.  “Stop it!  Don’t think about him.”
She focused on the tiny knots that made up the tatted petals of her canopy.  “Lower class...hardly.  He’s only from the wealthiest family in Syndicate.”  She scowled.  “I should have realized.  He was too comfortable around the elite...around me.”
She closed her eyes and the memory of his touch caused her tummy to sizzle.  Blasted sensitivity side effect.  The sensation spread to warm her torso and Kami sighed, unable to push the memory aside.

Ian combed his fingers through her hair, fanning them to brace her head.  The ground disappeared as the confidence in his gentle touch lifted her to the clouds that rode the slow breeze a million miles away.
He leaned close.  Noses less than an inch apart, he looked into her eyes.  The most amazing hazel hues waltzed in his tender gaze.  Warmth bathed her face as he whispered.  “May I kiss you?”
Kami’s breath hitched and she swallowed fast to control the hiccup that usually accompanied the act.  A lump of air wedged in her esophagus.  Her gaze dropped to his full lips and she nodded, praying the stuck air would stay stuck...at least until after the kiss.
Dewy silk met her lips as Ian’s lighted on hers.  Heat rose to her cheeks and her shoulders arched as tingles exploded from her heart, dancing along her scalp.  She locked her knees against the gelatinous sensation in her thighs and placed her hands on his broad chest.
Oh, dear heavenly man!  He felt like solid handsome and she couldn’t help sliding her palms up his firm muscles and then around his neck.  She tangled her fingers into his dark waves.
A hum rode his breath as he came closer, so close their bodies touched.
A gurgle from deep in her chest bubbled up her airway and clattered at the back of her throat.  It blew through her nostrils, breezing along his cheek.

Kami burst into laughter.  “How could the most amazing kiss also be the most embarrassing moment of my life!”
She stared at the frilly fringe as if it held the answer.

Excerpt
Riley closed her eyes and let the heat of the water engulf her tired muscles. Resting her head against the bath pillow, she cleared her mind. The steam seeped out from the bubbles and swirled around the room. Soon the mirror and windows were fogged and a scented mist surrounded the bathroom, creating a relaxing atmosphere. A week’s worth of sleepless nights had taken their toll and Riley drifted off.

The squeak of the faucet and the silence that followed distracted her tranquil thoughts. She opened her eyes to find him sitting on the edge of the tub looking at her. For a moment, she felt self-conscious. She glanced down and discovered her body covered in thick, white bubbles. He couldn’t see anything but the tops of her shoulders, neck, and face.
“Sorry,” he said. “I was afraid the water would overflow.”
“Am I awake?”
He shook his head. She noted his green eyes sparkled even in the dim lighting of the bathroom.
“Well, then how—”
“It’s complicated.” His thin, pink lips formed a small smile. “I can’t explain now.”
“Why not?”
“There isn’t enough time to make you understand while you’re in your current state. We need much more time. You can get that for us.”
“Are you real or am I crazy?”
“I’m very real, just stuck between realms. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.” He slid off the side of the tub and knelt down on the floor. “I’m afraid I can’t stay very long. I keep trying to figure out how to increase the length of my visits but nothing seems to work.”
“I don’t know you.”
“You will.” He reached for the clip in her hair. “May I?”
She nodded.
Once he’d freed her hair from its confines, he smoothed the damp locks out with his hand. “I like when you wear it down. It’s so pretty.” He continued to stroke her hair. “You’re just as beautiful as I remember.”
“How do you know me?” She shifted her position to face him. She breathed in his crisp scent. He smelled of spice, maybe a hint of cinnamon.
“I…” He trailed off when his gaze caught her exposed breasts. He looked lost in a distant memory.
When she’d turned to face him she’d upset the bubbles shielding her. Her nipples hardened as she watched him take in her flesh. She no longer felt embarrassed.
“I have to go.”
“You keep leaving me. I don’t like it.” Each time he left, he took a small piece of her with him.
“That’s why you need to find me.” He leaned forward. “I know you can. You’re very powerful.” He brushed his lips against her mouth. A rush of warmth coursed through her and settled between her legs. “Find me, Riley.” He kissed the corner of her mouth, lingering a second longer than usual. She took the opportunity to run her tongue along his soft lips. “Find me now.”
“How?” She wanted more than anything to find this man. “What do I need to do?”
“Tucker…” he whispered.
“What?”

Riley slipped off the bath pillow and under the cold water. She quickly sat up and looked around. The bubbles had evaporated into the freezing water.
Did she turn the faucet off? Or did…
I must be crazy.
She thought for a moment. Her mystery man had left her a big clue tonight. Now she needed to figure out what Tucker Sparrow had to do with any of this. It looked as if she would be paying a visit to a man she hadn’t seen in a decade.

EXCERPT:
Spinning around to pick up the last dish, my hand is caught in someone’s grasp.
“Excuse me?”
Glancing over my shoulder, I trace the arm of the person holding my wrist, meeting with a set of anxious, piercing, green-grey eyes.
“Ruby?”
My heart jumps into my throat—pulsing, beating and pounding into every forgotten crevice of my consciousness. Loudly pulling out stored away memories. His grip tightens…

~Past~

His hand slowly, languidly, and with precision, made its way up my arm to my naked shoulder. Lifting my chin, his lips seared my neck with their delectable heat, making my knees weaken.
“God, you’re so beautiful,” he said, his breath skating its way up my throat. His wicked tongue licked the sensitive space behind my ear and everything around me ceased to exist.
“Oh god,” I gasped.
His agile fingers floated up my side, caressing my bare breast, while the other hand tangled into my damp hair. I let the towel fall completely to the floor and pressed my body against his. Skin on skin. Baring it all.
He pushed me gently and I fell onto the bed when the back of my knees hit the edge. I scooted myself further up the mattress as he made his way on top of me. The feel of his naked form all over mine, made the space between my legs open…waiting…wanting.

~Present~

“Ruby,” he says again, hand softening around my wrist. “Wow. I had no idea you were back in Chicago.”
“Brent.” His name on my lips feels like a familiar lullaby. “Hi. Yeah. For a while now.”
Pulling out of his grasp, I go back to the tray and pick up the final plate. With a shaky hand, I set it in front of the last seating and then grab the empty tray and stand.
“Is there anything else I can get for you gentlemen?” I ask, looking at everyone but my past. What would I even say to him?
“No, I think we’re good,” the blond replies with a thick accent, oblivious to the tension.
“Well, enjoy your meals.”
Quickly maneuvering around the white linen tables and their occupants, I rush to the kitchen, place the tray in the pile with the others and make my way down the side hallway to the cooler. Spreading apart the plastic strips designed to keep in the cool air, I march to the back without any thought other than—calm the fuck down. My hands grip the metal shelving piled with fresh tomatoes and lettuce. Shutting my lids, closing myself off as much as possible, I inhale the cool air from the room.
“Ruby?” Astrid calls.
“Yea-ah?”
“Is everything okay?” she asks, entering the cooler. “I saw you come back. Did something happen?”
“It’s nothing.”
“Are you sure?”
“I just need a second. Can you check on my tables for me?”
“Yeah. Sure.” She waits, unmoving. “Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Yep.” I take in one last inhale. My hands release the bar, falling to my sides as I face her. “I’m good. Just got a little overheated is all.”
“All right. I’ll get your tables started for you,” she says, stepping backwards toward the door. “See you in a few.”
“Yep. I’ll be out in a minute.”

She leaves and I bring my fingertips to my forehead. Shutting my eyes and sealing off the rest of the world, the man at the table calls my attention behind my closed lids. His green-grey eyes—the very ones that speak volumes over any word ever spoken in the history of my life—stare back at me. I never expected to see them ever again, but there they were, connecting us without my permission.

REVIEW
5 STARS
*I was given a ARC for an honest review*

What can I say? I fell in LOVE with After Tuesday and It's main Characters Ruby and Brent. So when I was able to read Forgotten Yesterday I was in total heaven, only my favorite couple had gone through some major upheavals in life and life had forced changes upon them. I admit I might have cried a little when I found out. At first I was like whyyyy did this happen. Then I was off to blaming Both of the characters for not acting the way I wanted.THEN I started reading and reading some more.It was then that I realized just because a character doesn't end up how you envision it in your head does not mean it is over.It means there is more to the story and more you want to read and learn about.Renee manages too leave you breathless and wanting more at the end but never fear Deciding Tomorrow will be released in the near future.I am as always on baited breath for Renee's next book.Awesome Job Renee!

Author Bio:

Renee loves to wear of hoodies, is fluent in Yoda speak, and likes to make videos with Lego figures. She is a long time insomniac, but doesn't have the energy to start an underground Fight Club so she settles for writing stories about the characters who plague her mind. She grew up in the Midwest and currently resides in the Boston area, but sounds nothing like Ben Affleck or Matt Damon.
