Kindred (The Darkwoods Trilogy #2) By J.A Redmerski

Isaac Mayfair is hiding a dark secret. And just when Adria Dawson thinks the worst of her life among the werewolf world is over, she learns the secret that can rip her and Isaac's love apart. Adria must come to terms with what the truth means for her. What it means for her life and how much time she has left to live it. She must choose between two different fates, neither of which can offer life as a certainty.

As if Isaac's betrayal isn't enough, Adria learns that there are things out there older and more powerful than werewolves could ever be. An archaic entity known only to few as the Praverian, unlike anything Adria has ever known or heard of.

As Adria struggles with her own fateful dilemmas, she must also try to find out why the Praverian is so interested in her and do everything in her power to stay out of its way.

Kindred (The Darkwoods Trilogy #2) is Book Two in the Darkwoods Trilogy It definitely does NOT disappoint. There is so much more action, drama and romance in Kindred..Isaac is hiding something,Adria is hiding something. The Praverian make an appearance and Adria learns a few things from them. All in All I believe Kindred was more enjoyable for me then Mayfair Moon.It was very fast paced but not overly fast. There is a surprise twist that I did not see coming either. That was a GOOD twist. This is a bit more mature from Mayfair Moon..the characters are growing up.Taking new roles. Its a good thing.Overall Kindred gets an A++++++.J.A Redmerski definitely  knows what she is doing.A wonderful Middle book in the Darkwoods Trilogy Sandwich.

It had been awhile since I have read a Werewolf Trilogy that grabbed me and kept me interested for so long. The Mayfair Moon is Book one in this series by J.A Redmerski. This is definitly not your normal shifter type book as the shifting is a bit different.I was enthralled with Adria and Isaac.Adria has to leave home to go to Maine to live with her Aunt and Uncle. Her sister follows as well but things that happened prior to them leaving affect Adria's sister pretty badly.Adria Meets The Mayfair family and finds out things are not always as they seem.Werewolf politics will be shown  and fights will be had.In addition to all that some pretty darn good Romance!I loved the Main Characters as well as the Secondary Characters.Definitly a book I would recommend to any that enjoy a good Paranormal/shifter type book.

Once we reached the door to our room, he quickly slid the card into the slot to open the door. The moonlight was streaming through the long blinds, highlighting his naturally tan skin. I pulled back to catch my breath just as he ripped his shirt up and over his head. I slowly and deliberately licked my bottom lip at what I saw. Abercrombie models had nothing on this man.
I pulled my bottom lip in between my teeth, biting down hard. The things I wanted to do to this man were standing at attention in the forefront of my mind. Sloan’s glistening pecks caught my attention as he stalked his way towards me. I hadn’t realized that I had stopped in the doorway and was still standing there, staring.

 EXCERPT

“Can I help you Mr. Holden?

“Ah, so we're back to Mr. Holden, huh? Can't we just go back to you just calling me by my name and not my fathers?”

“Um, no sorry. I think it's safer to stick with Mr. Holden.”

“Well it probably is but you know, he is a married man.” He winked.

“Ha ha, very funny. How long have you been working on that one?”

“Oh Ms. Boyd I love our little bantering sessions lately. I have to say, they do make my day a little bit easier.”

Don't look at his eyes! Do not look at his eyes. You stupid bitch you're looking at his eyes. His eyes were more of a honey color today and just as mesmerizing as any other day. I wanted to run my tongue along his neck and chest, stopping at his nipples for just a minute and then continue on down his body. I wanted to take his long length into my-

4- I couldn't help but be a voyeur to the little act being played out in front of me. I wanted to see how she would react to him. I needed more than anything to know if she spent her time thinking about me as much as I thought about her. As a bright smile hit her face, my heart literally plummeted to my toes. My eyes scanned the crowd for her so-called friends, but didn't see any of them on the dance floor. His hands wrapped tightly around her hips and my fingers tightened into fists.

I tried with all of my might, to look away but it wasn't happening. She was no longer facing me; her face was now merely inches in front of his. I prepared myself for the worst and downed the shot of Patron in front of me. The guy, whose name I think was Auggie, was quite a bit bigger than me. Not that I couldn't hold my own, I have been boxing since I was 10, but he was still pretty big in comparison. A little bit of liquid courage was called for when I hadn't fought for a woman in, well, forever it would seem.

5- "You better come in the next two seconds or I am ripping your skirt from your body and bending you over this desk. Don't toy with me Aston."

6- “Okay, send it in.” I waved my hand and went back to the thick stack of paper in my hands. A huge bouquet of roses caught my eye, followed by another and another. Ten dozen roses sat randomly around my office. Every inch of surface was covered in vases full of pink, violet, yellow, white and red. A smile threatened to touch the edge of my mouth, but vanished as I searched for the card that came along with them. My hopes were high and pulling for Sloan. I was giddy and bouncing on the balls of my feet as I read the card out loud.

Happy Release Day of The Trouble With Flirting By Claire LaZebnik!!!

Franny's supposed to be working this summer, not flirting. But you can't blame her when guys like Alex and Harry are around. . . .

Franny Pearson never dreamed she'd be attending the prestigious Mansfield Summer Theater Program. And she's not, exactly. She's working for her aunt, the resident costume designer. But sewing her fingers to the bone does give her an opportunity to spend time with her crush, Alex Braverman. If only he were as taken with the girl hemming his trousers as he is with his new leading lady.

When Harry Cartwright, a notorious flirt, shows more than a friendly interest in Franny, she figures it can't hurt to have a little fun. But as their breezy romance grows more complicated, can Franny keep pretending that Harry is just a carefree fling? And why is Alex suddenly giving her those deep, meaningful looks? In this charming tale of mixed messages and romantic near-misses, one thing is clear: Flirting might be more trouble than Franny ever expected.

The Trouble With Flirting Was sent to me as an ARC for an honest review.

The Trouble with Flirting takes place during summer when Franny who goes to a school where most of the
students are well off has to work during the summer with her Aunt sewing costumes at Mansfield Summer Theater Program. While working there she gets back in touch with a friend,Julie and her Brother Alex, who at one time Franny had a crush on.Then Franny meets Harry,Isabella and several other amazing secondary characters. The story is very reminiscent of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park.

First off, please let say how much I loved this story.I was literally glued to the book from start to finish. The conversations between Harry and Franny were hilarious.I'm not sure if its because of my sense of humor but they were just spot on.Each character was so well thought out and developed that the writing flowed so very smoothly. My heard did break for Franny for a small bit(I will refrain from saying why as not to spoil it..as I dislike spoilers). The ending was Super Sweet..Im one of those people that love to continue reading about characters even if their story is technically over so I would love to read about more about Harry and Franny..perhaps even their little group of friends.I am a huge Jane Austen Fan so I was able to see the inspiration of Mansfield Park in it and Claire LeZebnik was able to take it and make it her own version.

If you are looking for an "I cant put this book down type" of read then give The Trouble with Flirting a chance. Its an amazing read and the dialogue is outstanding.Claire LeZebnik has without a doubt written another winner.

One of My Favorite quote from the book due to the scene was "Come as soon as you can,"I whisper in his ear."As soon as I can,"He promises.

INTERVIEW With Claire LeZebnik

1.Where did the idea for The Trouble With Flirting Come from?

From Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park, actually. My previous novel, Epic Fail, was based on Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and this time around I wanted to tackle a lesser-known Austen. I combined her story line (or, rather, a very loose adaptation of her story line) with a settling gleaned from real life: my son had spent the previous summer doing two intense acting programs and I thought it would be fun to set a YA novel at one. The two separate inspirations came together nicely. I love when that happens.

2.How emotionally attached to the characters are you?

I really identify with my protagonists, even when they’re significantly different from me (younger, prettier, saner, etc.). I feel like I’m thinking their thoughts along with them, and I suspect that if you filmed me writing, I would look wildly emotional: I smile when my characters are happy and frown when something’s wrong and I tear up when I’m writing a sad scene. But I don’t feel like they’re real people or anything—I mean, I’ve “killed off” characters when I’ve had to. For example, there was originally a fifth sister in Epic Fail but my editor felt that was too many sisters to keep track of . . . and boom, she was gone. So there's a limit to how much I identify with them!

3.Any new Work in Progress that we can look forward too?

Absolutely! I’m finishing up the manuscript for another HarperTeen novel, due out in the summer of 2014. Once again it’s loosely based on a Jane Austen book (Persuasion this time) and set in modern-day Los Angeles. I’m really happy with this one: the character makes a big mistake and has to redeem herself over the course of the novel.  I think we've all had those big moments we wish we could take back or do over--but all we can do is learn and move forward.
4.Have you read anything great lately?

Yes, Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. It was a challenging book and I wasn’t sure I’d make it through the first fifty or so pages, but the more I read, the more drawn in I got, and by the time I had reached the halfway point, all I wanted to do was sit and read that book. It’s brilliant and fascinating and just stunning.

5.If there was one thing you could tell readers..what would that be?

Don’t ever stop reading books! It’s so easy to get sucked into the kind of short form reading we do on the computer and on our phones, but there’s nothing so wonderful as losing yourself completely in a long, densely packed, wonderfully entertaining book. It’s like living in a different world for a while. Where else can you get that kind of intense vacation from real life for just a few dollars?

Just a Tad Bit Rambly

I Just wanted to take a minute to tell Claire,Thank you so MUCH for being on Le'BookSquirrel on Release Day.The Trouble With Flirting is a WONDERFUL book and I am so Proud of you!I hope many read it and enjoy it as much as I have!Thank You again!

*Author/Book Spotlight!*Witness By Maria Rachel Hooley

Author:Maria Rachel Hooley
Publicaton Date August 2012

What happens when you witness the unthinkable?

For two years, sixteen-year-old Cee Cee Montgomery has had a crush on David Johnson, and she’s been waiting for him to notice her, and he does—at a party that Cee Cee wasn’t supposed to be at. But she is. She’s there when David is stabbed and no one calls for help. She’s one of the silent witnesses who bears the guilt of his death, and it’s tearing her apart. Not even Stacy Eddings, her best friend, can help her through it.

Stacy is a silent witness of a different sort. He’s been in love with Cee Cee since he met her, but she never saw past David, and while at first he doesn’t know she went to that party, he does realize that something is wrong, that sometimes, no matter how painful, the truth has to come out.

EXCERPT

"What have we here?" the creep asked.  Stepping closer, his eyes darted back and forth between David and me.
"Trouble, that's what you've got," David said, somehow managing to keep his voice even.  "This isn't your party or your crowd, so you might want to think about leaving."
"And miss all the fun?  I don't think so."  He smiled at me, and I shuddered.
Although David didn't look at me, I know he must have felt me shivering as he gently guided me to hide behind him so he was in between the thugs and me.  Desperate, I kept staring beyond them at the bonfire, wishing madly that someone would come over.  I didn't care who it was.  I wanted to feel others knew trouble was brewing.
"Expecting someone?" the Adams jock asked, forcing my attention.
"Lots of friends up there.  I'm willing to bet before long a few of them will be coming down here."  David was still cool, but the tension in his hand belied what he didn't say.
The creep laughed, and his buddies joined in, the sound of it hard and rough in the night.  "I don't think so, quarterback.  They're too busy getting drunk to worry about you two lovebirds."
He sauntered around slightly to get a better look at me.  "You do remember me, right, chica?  I'm the guy you dissed earlier."
David shifted, making it harder to get close to me.  "Leave her out of it--and get the hell out of here."  His voice was cold, sounding of fury, but even I knew the odds weren't good.  The music was still blaring, and no one else was around.
"What did you say to me?"  The creep stepped closer, and that was when everything went south.
Beth suddenly appeared in the darkness, close enough to see trouble might be at hand, but not sure.  "Cee, is that you?"
"Get Scott!" David yelled as two of the others moved closer, one of them grabbing him.
The creep laughed, stepping closer to David's back.  I didn't understand what was happening, not until David made a sort of grunting sound, and I felt him tense several times.
"David?" I whispered.  He looked at me, his eyes confused, and I didn't understand, not until I saw a knife in the Hispanic  thug's hands, dark with blood.
"We're even now," the creep said, stepping toward me as David fell, his hand releasing mine.
David blinked two or three times as he staggered to his knees, wobbling unevenly.  His mouth opened as he grabbed his side, lifting his hand to find it drenched in blood.
"Cee?" he whispered, reaching.
I wanted to help him, but my body wouldn't move.  It was like the whole world had suddenly shifted into low gear.  In the distance, there was silence now.  David's lips kept moving, but I couldn't tell what he was saying.  He managed to grab my wrist with one bloody hand, smearing it all over me.
The creep was pointing at the blood running down David's side.  "It's beautiful.  You want some?"  He waved the stained blade at me.
In terror, I screamed and ran backwards almost falling.  He was laughing now; they all were.  It sounded so loud, and the world was tilting at funhouse angles, threatening to capsize with me in it.  He lunged at me, and I took off, afraid of what would happen next.
I couldn't see where I was going or if anyone followed.  I ran and kept running as the world turned to screams, probably most of them mine.  Ahead, I saw the sanctuary of trees, and I fled there.  My feet stumbled over raised tree roots, and I tripped, slamming my head against one of them as I hit the ground.
Lying there, I saw the others converging where I'd left David, and all I could think was, somebody help him.  Somebody help me.  And don't let the others find me.
Then the blackness swept me away.

Fade(The Ragnarok Prophesies) is the story about Arionna Jacobs and Dace Matthews. It has everything.Romance, Supernatural, Prophesy and so much more.FADE is an amazing and fast paced read.Arionna meets Dace at College in her town after her mothers death. They have an instant connection.Only Arionna finds out Dace is so much more then she though..But then so is she,so is the town.I rarely give out spoilers so thats all your going to get in a short synapses.
I believe Fade(The Ragnarok Prophesies) is the first book by this author and what an amazing start to the series.Dace..yum.Series sometimes are hard for me if the author doesn't get me interested.Luckily im so interested Im over here holding a sign with the words..Will blog for book two. This book had everything I needed to draw me in.The romance was on point. It was enough and not over the top like in some shifter books.I really enjoyed the action of the book as well..parts were so action packed I almost couldn't turn the page fast enough.I can only hope the second in the series will be out soon to put me out of my misery.

Years have passed, and I’ve learned the true meaning of time. I’ve learned to build a wall around myself and exist alone. Yet, when he looks at me… the heart beneath my armor trembles.
But I must remember.
I must remember that I might not have anything left to lose, but he certainly does. And risking him is something I won’t do. So I lock my feelings where they belong.

An Exclusive Excerpt From,The Forgotten Ones By Laura Howard.

Sean jogged over with the bat and held it out for me, grinning. “Pick your pitcher, Allie-O.”

The smirk on Ethan's face was a challenge, and I couldn't resist. “Ethan has the ball, he can pitch to me.”

He made a big show of stretching and winding up before he finally tossed the ball at me.

I smacked the ball over the pool house, and Sean started shouting and cheering, making me smile. Ethan shook his head, but he was smiling. He clearly thought I would be an easy out.

I made it all the way to the final round, kicking Sean and Jeff out of the game. I'd played softball and run track all through school to pad my transcripts.

“You gonna let her win, E?” Jeff called, winking at me from the picnic table where he sat drinking a beer.

Ethan chuckled, showing off those damn dimples. He looked down at the ball in his hands and back up at me with a grin. “If I do, will you let me take you out?”

I snorted, trying to look braver than I felt. “Not a chance.”

“Wait a sec. I like this. Let's make a wager,” he said.

The guys were all hooting and hollering at me, my face was no doubt crimson.

“What do I get if I win?” I bit my lip, feeling all their eyes on me.

“I'm thinking, hang on,” He held up his finger, his brow furrowed in thought. His eyes widened with excitement, and I knew I would regret whatever he had to say.

“If I win, I get a kiss.” If it was possible, my cheeks grew even redder. They were all laughing and making cat calls now.

“And, if I win?” I looked up at his face.

He looked at me for a second, considering. “If you win, I won't ever ask you out again.”

This earned a chorus of “Yeah, right” and “No way” from the guys.

My mouth fell open, I had not been expecting that, but his face was sober. The laughing around us fell away for a second, and I could only stare at him feeling the color drain from my face. His expression remained solemn, and he met my gaze head on.

I nodded stiffly, and swallowed. “All right.”

His grin came back in full force. “Oh, and Al?”

I raised my eyebrows at him.

“I won't lose.”

*Blog Tour *FENDER BENDER BLUES By Niecey Roy

                                            FENDER BENDER BLUES

Her life took a wrong turn. He's driven by success. They didn't count on crashing into love...

Rachel Bennett loved her job until the day she finds herself doubting her choices.  Now she's hunting for a new career, but starting over isn't easy.  Her plan is simple—no distractions until she finds her dream job.  She didn't plan on fate throwing her a curveball in the form of a fender bender with a sexy guy in an expensive suit.

Craig Larsen is a wealthy, successful business owner with a plan of his own: survive his current PR nightmare and stay away from his overly determined ex-girlfriend.  His need for control and personal success is turned upside down when he meets Rach, a sassy redhead who can't drive.

Soon they find themselves battling with Rach's grumpy old neighbor, toilet-papering the trees of a high school nemesis, and fighting over the last slice of pizza.  Can two very different people plus one fender bender equal a chance at forever?

 EXCERPT:

“Now what?”
“Nothing.”Rach sniffed.
Craig shifted to eye her warily. “Since when do you answer me with single words?”
“Since I decided I’m not talking to you,” she answered with a shrug, crumpling up the white paper wrapper from her sub.
Craig leaned his face in close to her neck and enjoyed the startled jerk of her shoulders. Her eyes opened wide in surprise. His breath shifted a few strands of hair at the nape of her neck as he whispered, “Why, because you want me?”
“You’re incorrigible,” she said, breathless, her cheeks flushed.
She’s enjoying this. The thought pleased him. Rach was on her back beside him now, her eyes closed. He glanced around the park to see if anyone was watching. No one was. He could swoop in for a kiss and no one would catch him. No one would care, he told himself. She won’t mind
“I can feel you staring.”
Craig smiled down at her. “So what.”
She peeked at him with one green eye. “So stop it.”
“And if I don’t?” Maybe she’d tackle him, push him down on the blanket and…
She didn’t. She promptly closed her eye and went back to pretending indifference. “I’ll hit you, that’s what.”
“Not if I do this, you won’t.”
He’d only meant it to be a short kiss, but the pleasure of touching his lips to hers kept him there longer. Her tongue was velvet soft and warm against his and the slow mating of their mouths quickened his heartbeat even as he told himself, It’s no big deal, just a kiss.
She nipped his bottom lip and sent heat sliding through his body. The woman could kiss.
She whispered soft against his lips, “Now why don’t you admit that it’s you who wants me.”

*Author Spotlight* Sporadically Inspired By Ashley Demi

                                                                Synopsis:

Morgan isn't learning from the past, and Charlotte may be forced to make make a hard choice over following her dreams. It's Cali's story from which the girls find their inspiration. They believe her story is a fictional cult classic that each have read over and over. It encourages them to follow their hearts. In the end, however, it could be Cali who needs the most help turning her sporadic inspirations into reality. . . again.

                                                                     Bio:

The story of my life is one that’s still being written, it’s about a girl named Ashley that had to go through a few chapters before she learned how she wanted to live the rest of the story. I could take you through moment after moment that got me to where I am now; in fact I’d have to take you through every single one. So instead I’ll just give you some highlights. Around May 2009 after seeing 17 Again at the movies it inspired me to pick up writing. I couldn’t tell you what it was about that one movie that was different from the tons of others I had fallen in love with over the years that finally shined light on what I had been trying to figure out since I was first asked what I wanted to be when I grew up; but there it was…my dream realized. It’s funny how after you reach that moment, you can’t believe you didn’t think of it sooner…I’ve loved movies since I was a kid and played The Little Mermaid on repeat, and had always been a daydreamer who loved coming up with a good story. I started writing my ideas in script format for movies and then decided to try one of my ideas as a book.

I’m just a girl from a small town with a big dream. Classic story…think you’ve heard it a thousand times…well I’d like to think mine’s unique. Maybe not extreme or extravagant to everyone; but to me…to me it’s a fairy tale. Oh don’t get me wrong it’s also a comedy, a horror film (you know how bad hair days can be lol), one with action, love, tears, and inspiration…but it’s my story, and it’s one of kind.
I use to think dreams were…well just that, dreams; nothing but thoughts and wishes that you kept stored away for a day you didn’t know would come or not. But then I thought why should it be like that? Seemed like a tragedy really, to keep all my dreams in my head instead of experiencing them for real. So instead I decided I wanted to live my dreams and make them my reality…make them my ‘normal’…if there is such a thing a normal lol . It won’t be easy, who knows where it will take me, or how long it will take to get there…but I can promise one thing…it’ll be one amazing ride!
Forever Inspired

Le'BookSquirrel Would like to Thank Entwined Publishing for Letting me have Author Ashley Demi here.I very much look forward to reading Sporadically Inspired by Ashely Demi.It looks wonderful.Congratulations to getting your books out Ashley!!!

*Review 5 stars * The Lonely By Tara Brown

The Lonely

The truth is subjective to what the lonely lets in.

Emalyn Spicer has lived with it for a long time. She thinks it goes back further than her memories do. She knows it goes back further than the OCD.

When she meets Sebastian and starts to fall for him, she lets herself believe it's possible to outrun the things chasing her from the past. But how to you get away from the things inside of you? How do you run from yourself?

Just as she gives up and succumbs to the lonely, the unthinkable happens. She finds herself once again trapped in the dark, once again held against her will.

REVIEW
5 STARS

This is a first book for me by Tara Brown. It was in one word Amazing.Truly a great read. Emalyn Spicer suffers from OCD and has a mysterious benefactor. She goes to college and her OCD starts to overtake her.Luckily she has her friend rooming with her and has met Sebastian. Her Benefactor is someone that keeps tabs on her,She also has a driver to drive her around and keep her safe.Suddenly her world is turned upside down.
I cannot express how great a book this is.The synopsis does not do it justice. The twists and turns of this book were exquisite.I did however figure out who the benefactor was a bit before Emalyn figured it out.The way Eli helped her overcome her issues was pretty dramatic..but in an odd way it worked. Its definitely a love story about two broken people finding each other and finding love,It is not that cut and dry but thats what makes it so good! I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this other then it had to end.I have to hold out hope that their story is not over because I would love to continue reading about them.
